Huntsham
Huntsham is a small village and civil parish, formerly a manor and ecclesiastical parish, in the Mid Devon district of Devon, England. It lies within the Diocese of Exeter.〔(Diocese of Exeter - Hunstham )〕The nearest town is Tiverton, approximately to the south-west. The parish covers and has a population of 157.〔(Hunstham acreage and more info )〕 Prior to the 19th century Huntsham was within the historic Tiverton Hundred. The iron age fort Huntsham Castle is situated within the parish.
Grade II
* listed〔(Listed building text: Huntsham Court )〕 Huntsham Court, the former manor house built in 1869, sits on the hill above the village. Many of the buildings in Huntsham village were built to service to the house at the turn of the 20th century. It is one of the best examples in Devon of a country mansion built in the Victorian-Gothic style. Currently in private ownership as a family home, the house is however occasionally rented out for private events and parties. 〔http://www.landedhouses.co.uk/england/devon-cornwall/huntsham-court/〕 In 2014 Huntsham Court won the prestigious ''Hudson Heritage Award for Commercial Innovation'' 〔http://www.hudsonsheritage.com/Hudsons-Heritage-awards/Winner_Best_Commercial_Innovation.aspx〕 for creating a new way of celebrating the "historic built environment" whilst preserving it for future generations, supporting local businesses and suppliers whilst also enabling the public to enjoy and use the building.
